I've had Octopath Traveler 2 downloaded for ages and I finally started it last week. I loved the first one. I thought it did something bold and fresh in a genre that's not known for doing much of that any more: eight loosely connected stories that are tied more tightly to each other the more you look. It was impressive and I finished almost everything in it.
The sequel is more of the same, but better. I started as Throne, the thief, because I enjoy stealing candy from children. I've got the eight travelers now and I'm going to finish her story as soon as I can. The writing is excellent, especially the incidental stuff you get from examining each NPC. I love how you have to deduce who you'll need to help you finish certain side quests and how well integrated the path actions are to solving the mysteries you find. I'll end up spending another 100 hours on this, I'm sure.
F-Zero 99 is always in the rotation. I'll finish a Cup almost every day. There are some absolute freaks playing online so while I can get a few top ten finishes I don't think I'm ever going to win a race. It's still fun.
I'm also resuming regular Ring Fit Adventure sessions. I used to do adventure mode exclusively, but I find the custom mode to be great for focused, intense sessions. I've got routines for every major muscle group, and one with all the yoga poses for warmups and cooldowns. I'm genuinely impressed at how well and thoughtfully designed it is.
What are you all playing this week?
